How buying requests work

A buying request (RFQ) is a message from an importer that describes a product they want to purchase, including quantity, target price, destination port and payment terms. Suppliers review the request and respond with a quotation.

How to respond to a buying request

  • Read the requirements carefully: quantity, shipment terms, payment method and destination port.
  • Quote a price that matches the requested shipment terms, for example FOB, CIF or EXW.
  • State your lead time, packaging and minimum order so the buyer can compare offers quickly.
